Learning Design

  • CAFE offers online teaching certification and online teaching recertification for all 91ºÚÁÏÍø faculty, both full-time, part-time, and adjunct, who are teaching online courses. 
  • If you would like to initiate a Quality Course Review, you can request a course review through CAFE Teaching and Learning.

Laura Baglereau

As an Instructional Designer, Laura supports engaging, inclusive, and learner-centered experiences. With a background in theatre and a strong foundation in instructional design in higher education, Laura brings a unique perspective that emphasizes storytelling, audience awareness, and creative problem-solving. She is passionate about partnering with educators to explore innovative, research-informed approaches to teaching and learning.

Ash Mitchell

Ash is a dedicated instructional designer who empowers 91ºÚÁÏÍø faculty to implement engaging, evidence-based teaching strategies that elevate learning for all students. With a rich background as both an instructional designer and a former psychology professor, Ash brings a unique blend of expertise and empathy to their work. They are passionate about helping faculty discover the ideal balance between the art and science of teaching—offering tailored, innovative, and time-saving approaches that make a meaningful impact in the classroom.

This association provides valuable professional development resources on maintaining effective websites, creating compelling content, understanding student preferences, using social media, and creating good emails.

To become a member, sign up at  and select 91ºÚÁÏÍø as your institution. Make sure you use your umkc.edu email address. 

 

Starting Fall 2025, 91ºÚÁÏÍø is an institutional member of Textbook and Academic Authors Association (TAA).  TAA provides a wide variety of writing resources, including guides, grants, and webinars, to help 91ºÚÁÏÍø faculty and graduate students move their writing projects forward to publication success.
